A few times a month, I get the greatest urge to drop everything and just be a bookstagrammer/book blogger again. It was way less pressure I feel than being an author, but I also made way less (read: absolutely no) money.
Sharing what I read each month kind of satiates that urge I feel to go back to those low-pressure days, even if I know I probably never will.
I love writing. I love sharing my stories with the world, but yeah, some days, I still miss simply chatting about all the books that I’m reading, day in and day out.
With that, let’s get into what I read in September.
The month before a new book release (and a few weeks after), I’ve found that it’s incredibly difficult for me to read closed-door romcoms. Because that’s been the genre of my first 2 books, I started to compare myself to other writers, I started to question all of my story choices, and basically, imposter syndrome hits really hard. With this in mind, I decided to start September out with a re-read of a series that I first read way back in 2015, before I’d even heard the word ‘bookstagram’ and it was definitely the best choice.
Shatter Me, Unravel Me, Ignite Me, and Unite Me (Novellas) by Tahereh Mafi
Way back in 2015, a coworker of mine let me borrow the original trilogy (these three books, minus the novella collection) and I read all three in less than five days.
This month, I again flew through these books. I’ve read all of them more than once, but I think the last time I read the original books was back in 2018 or 2019 when she started releasing the second trilogy. So it was a lot of fun to be back in this world.
Ignite Me is for sure my favorite book in the series.
I’m 100% an Aaron Warner girly and now I need to read the rest of the books so I can re-read the epic epilogue that is the last novella.
If you’re into YA dystopian, teenagers saving the world and falling in love, these are for you. They’re fun and I honestly don’t take any part of them very seriously, but wow. I love them so so so much.
The Rules of Mistletoe by me
I did my final read-through for The Rules of Mistletoe this month and honestly, I am so proud of this little story. I love it so, so much. It made me swoon and smile and it pulled at my heart.
Only 5 more days until everyone can read it officially. But…paperbacks might be live already if you want your copy to come before release day 😉

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score
I honestly was hesitant to even pick this one up. I wasn’t sure I’d like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. And I was even more surprised that I was able to read a romance so close to my release, but it’s so different that it ended up being fine!
I went in hoping for a good, small-town romance and that is exactly what I got. Plus a bit of a mystery/suspense which made it an even better time. I loved the romance. I loved the main characters falling into the role of mother and father and I loved the entire cast of characters. It was long, but it didn’t feel like it was 500 pages.
I will warn you, there is a LOT of language in this book, but it fits with the characters IMO so I personally didn’t mind as much, but if language bothers you, this one may not be for you.
This one is available to read on KU.
